Bat access tiles were also included on the roof as per the Ecologist’s report with temporary bat boxes placed around the course while the works were ongoing. The roof was very detailed with multiple hips, valleys, verges, cat slides, lead gullies, flashings and Velux windows. Marley Eternit’s Thrustone Fibre Cement Slates were used to maximise visual impact. As well as being lightweight, the building material also has sustainable properties, being 100% recyclable and contributing to the build’s BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating. Old existing slates, sarking board and damaged split lead of this Grade II listed building were removed and replaced with new Welsh slate to match the original. New lead mop rolled hips, lead valleys and gullies were also installed while the asphalt was replaced with a new GRP fibreglass roof system on the higher crown roof. The roofing utilised a clay handmade Tudor tile, while handmade bullnose tile hanging featured as a special design. Detailed lead work was carried out around the properties including the chimneys and flashings, Velux windows and mitred hipped porches.
